Nelson joined Asteri in December 2023 as Asteri's Chief Investment Officer
As Asteri Asset Management’s Chief Investment Officer, Nelson leads the firm’s investment strategy and oversees all investment portfolios and programs. He plays a key role in investment governance, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment manager selection. Working closely with Asteri’s adviser teams and clients, Nelson ensures the delivery of bespoke investment solutions that drive outstanding outcomes.
Before joining Asteri, Nelson was the Chief Investment Officer at Legal Super (2019–2023), where he managed over $5.5 billion in assets and delivered top-quartile investment performance. His career also includes leadership roles as CIO of Media Super ($7 billion AUM), Asset Consultant at Frontier Advisors, and a consultant in corporate finance and management consulting at Ernst & Young Australia.
Nelson is a CFA Charterholder and holds:
- Executive Program certification from Judge Business School, University of Cambridge
- Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting from Chartered Accountants ANZ
- Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Accounting) from The University of Melbourne
- The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees Rising Star Award (2018)
