Fergus has been an adviser in private wealth management since 2002, and prior to joining Asteri he worked at JBWere for 16 years.
Fergus began his career in law and worked as a commercial lawyer in Melbourne, London and Sydney over a 20 year time span. He specialised in structured and project finance as well as corporate restructurings and insolvency. From 1989 – 2001 Fergus was a partner at Blake Dawson (now Ashurst), and he also led the Project & Structured Finance Groups.
Fergus has advised a wide variety of individuals, families and Not-For-Profits on investment strategy, asset allocation, risk management, equities, fixed income, equity derivatives and alternatives. Fergus has had considerable personal involvement in the Not-For-Profit sector as a director of SCEGGS Darlinghurst and Belvoir Street Theatre and as a portfolio manager and responsible manager for the Third Link Fund, which donates its management fees to various charities.
Fergus was an elected Trustee of the Goldman Sachs & JBWere Super Fund for more than 10 years (until February 2018) and chaired its investment committee. During that time it was the best performing industry or corporate super fund in Australia.
Fergus has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws from Melbourne University, and is an ASX Accredited Derivatives Adviser (Level 1 and 2).
