Why the RBA may stay on hold despite shifting rate expectations
Amid renewed inflation pressure and changing market expectations, Asteri Asset Management’s Chief Economist, Annabel Lockyer, joined Ross Greenwood on Sky News Australia Business Now to discuss why the Reserve Bank of Australia may “sit on its hands” despite money markets now forecasting rate hikes from September next year.
Annabel highlighted a key shift in the labour market, with workers rotating from completed public projects into private construction, easing wage pressures and giving the RBA more scope to remain on hold before tightening policy again.
